THREE EASY WAYS TO BREW COFFEE
-
The French Press
The French Press was invented in 1929, and is considered as one of the best and easier methods of brewing coffee. It extracts, arguably, more “superior flavors” than other contemporary methods.
In a press pot, ground coffee is wetted, steeped and strained in hot boiling water; the coffee is rather flavorful as the oils, caffeine and antioxidants are deeply diffused allowing the purest flavors of the coffee to be retained. the taste experience is amazing but it does come across as probably a rather unhealthy method of brewing.
- Coffee Grind : Medium Fine
- Amount : 1 tablespoon for a cup
- Brewing Time: 4/5 minutes
- Sizes : Various sizes up to 8 cups of coffee
2. SOUTH INDIAN FILTER POT
South Indian Filter Coffee is made very similarly to French Press, but without the plunger that pushes the grounds downwards. Instead you will find that the grounds are left to mix with the hot water for a long while and slowly drip the decoction into the pot below.
- Coffee Grind : Medium Coarse
- Amount : 1 tablespoon for a cup (Do not overfill the top)
- Brewing Time: 7 to 10 minutes
- Sizes : Various sizes 2 cups onwards.
The process is simple. Just fill the top with coarsely ground filter coffee powder and pour boiling water over the coffee grounds and let it slowly steep into the jar below.
Pour the brew into a cup and top it with hot foaming milk.
3. The MOKA POT
Patented back in 1933 by Alfonso Bialetti, the MOKA POT uses steam pressure from boiled water poured in the lower chamber to pass through coffee grounds in the mid chamber of the pot. Brewed coffee seeps into the upper chamber slowly releasing amazing aroma and brew.
- Coffee Grind : Medium Coarse / Medium Fine
- Amount : 11/2 tablespoon for a cup (Do not overfill the top)

- Sizes : Various sizes 1 cup onwards.
